Orthopedic

Orthopedic medicine and surgery is a branch of equine medicine that deals with preventing and treating conditions of the bones and associated soft tissue such as tendons, ligaments and muscles.

Because we partner with our horses in competition and racing as well as for recreation, there is a great deal of focus on orthopedic injuries in horses with a growing emphasis on how to prevent them and appropriate methods of rehabilitation.

From ground breaking work with cartilage resurfacing to innovative methods of fracture repair, our world-class researchers continue to advance the field of orthopedic medicine and improve the lives of our equine athletes
